Story
Everyone is equal in the sight of God. For over 75 years, this truth has inspired us to stand together in solidarity with our most marginalised global neighbours, of all faiths and none.
Poverty is an outrage against humanity. It robs people of their dignity and lets injustice thrive.
We seek to eradicate extreme poverty by tackling its root causes. Together with people living in poverty, we amplify our voices to speak truth to power and create lasting change.
Christian Aid gives support worldwide to people facing poverty, injustice and disasters such as famine, floods and wars.
A very positive development is progressing, through the work of one of Christian Aid’s partners, called “Beacon of Hope”. This is enabling people to grow plants for food and sale in the tiniest of spaces in many settlements. Fridah is a widow from Nairobi in Kenya, with children and a grandchild to care for and she says “Urban farming has changed my life”. You can read Fridahs inspiring story on The Christian Aid website.
To fundraise for Christian Aid on its 81st year, I will be swimming 81 lengths of the 50 metre Dollan baths over three different early morning sessions from Monday 11th until Wednesday 13th May. This totals just under 3 miles.
I would be so grateful for donations to raise funds for this very worthwhile cause. Should you allow your donations to be gift aided, this means that the government then adds a further 25% to the total. For example, if you were to donate £10 then the total raised for Christian Aid would be £12:50. £20 donations would become £25 etc.
Thank you, in anticipation, for helping to make a difference!
