Story
Hello, I'm Janice!
I'm 71 years old and a keen gardener, cyclist and book-lover from East Dunbartonshire.

At the start of September, myself and a group of cycling friends are taking on our biggest ever challenge. Over the course of just fourteen days, we are going to be pedalling all the way from Land’s End to John O Groats!
We have been training hard throughout this year, taking on smaller feats such as the 100-mile Ride to the Sun 2026, and several bike-packing adventures across Scotland.

I have decided I would also like to use this opportunity to fundraise for Dawson Park Community Garden, in Dundee. Dawson Park Community Garden is run by mental health charity, Scottish Action for Mental Health (SAMH) and a diverse group of volunteers, many of whom have benefitted from the charity's horticultural therapy projects.

My child, Tom, was referred here after their adult autism diagnosis in 2021 and they have been a passionate volunteer ever since. I have seen for myself the positive and transformational impact it has had in their day-to-day life.
You can read about Tom's experience in their own words here!
Much like many local projects, the community garden relies on year-to-year funding support, and so by donating to my JustGiving page, you will be helping Dawson Park Community Garden continue their life-changing work in Dundee.

Please follow the page for updates of our journey (Tom will be helping out with the updates while I am doing the cycle!) and if you can, donate a little something to help this important mental health project continue to flourish in the community!
Thank-you!
