Story
Big tournaments like the Men's Football World Cup are brilliant for bringing the world together (maybe not Argentina!), but they represent a terrible reality for lots of women. Reports of domestic abuse jump by 38% when England lose, and even go up by 26% when they win or draw. Football isn't the cause, but matchdays highlight the dangerous situations faced by a lot of women and families subject to domestic abuse.
Watching all the buzz around the World Cup and thinking about what it means for some women made me realise that, as I was looking for a charity to support with this challenge, one that helps women and families in such a terrifying time should be at the top of my list.
That's why I'm raising money for Northamptonshire Domestic Abuse Service (NDAS).
NDAS is a fantastic local charity doing life-saving work right on our doorstep. They offer:
Safe Accommodation: Emergency refuges for people fleeing domestic abuse.
Support & Guidance: Confidential helpline advice, emotional support, and recovery sessions.
A Fresh Start: Helping survivors safely rebuild their lives.
Whether it’s a couple of pounds or whatever you can spare, every single donation will go directly towards helping local people when they need it most.
Thanks so much for taking the time to read and for supporting!
