The CJD Support Network offers advice, information and support for patients, carers and professionals involved in any form of suspected or confirmed CJD. We offer emotional and practical support; disseminate new information as research develops and offer advice for those who may be deemed at risk.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Our boys are raising funds for a charity close to our hearts in the hope that we can raise awareness, remove stigma and create open and honest conversation about what CJD is and is not. Unfortunately CJD is fatal, there is no cure; but we hope that we can raise money to help the CJD support network progress.

The boys will do 100 miles on their bikes or walking.

One of the biggest stigmas surrounding CJD is that it is being referred to by many as “mad cow disease” a derogatory term used by the main stream media which is otherwise known as variant CJD (vCJD) linked to cows infected with BSE. Please refrain from using this term as it is upsetting. Our personal experience was not variant CJD but sporadic CJD and though there are different types, families affected may be upset by the term previously mentioned.
