Story
Please help me to support people with ME and their families.
Myalgic Encephalopathy (ME), commonly known as Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, affects the lives of more than 400,000 individuals across the UK. For those living with the condition, even minor physical activity can lead to total collapse. The reality is a grueling cycle of unbearable physical pain, persistent insomnia, and a debilitating mental "fog." It changes lives drastically – disrupting study; making work impossible; and straining family relations to breaking point. Many sufferers cannot leave their homes. There is no known cure.
Since being diagnosed with ME/CFS in 2020, I’ve had to learn a completely new way of living. My days are now a constant balancing act; I’ve learned to listen closely to my body and plan carefully to protect my limited energy. It has been a long journey of understanding my boundaries and finding the grace to live with them.
Taking on this marathon is a deeply personal milestone for me—a way to test my strength and see how far I’ve come. It will be a difficult path, but I am carrying with me the inner determination I was raised with.
