Story
Thanks for checking out my fundraising page! On 26th April, I will be taking on the hardest challenge of my life by running the London Marathon in support of the Pan Asian Women's Association (PAWA)!
What is PAWA?
PAWA focuses on a single purpose: To support underprivileged teenage girls’ education in 7 countries across Asia. Educating teenage girls is critical to fighting poverty. PAWA is a great charity and a cause close to my heart. In my time in Nicaragua, I saw firsthand how girls as young as 10 were being removed from schooling and banned from participating in local clubs such as sports teams. Since then I have volunteered and worked for some great educational organisations.
A quick background on my running
I started running 3 years ago using the 'Couch to 5km' App, when running for more than 2 minutes felt impossible.
Last year, I ran my first half marathon (Kew Gardens 1/2), which I found to be a great but tough challenge throughout the training and the race itself. After the half I said "who in their right mind would run a marathon! You're telling me I would have to run that twice, no way!".
I then, to temp fate, entered the ballot for the London Marathon without thinking I would actually get a place. Shock horror, I got a spot and here we are. I am on week 5/17 of my marathon training journey and it's scarily starting to ramp up.
But PAWA is a great cause to motivate and spur me on. Supporting and uplifting children should be fundamental, as it is essential to global socio-economic development.
It is a fantastic cause so please donate what you can as it'll make a huge difference. Please visit their website to find out more: https://pawa-london.org/
