Emma was diagnosed with Pure Erythroid Leukaemia, an extremely rare type of blood cancer in June 2012. Unfortunately despite all the hard work, care, and expertise of the staff and consultants at Alderhey Hospital Emma tragically passed away on 7 October 2012. As those people who were lucky enough to spend time with Emma know she was amazing, always so bright, lively and full of fun.

In tribute to Emma's resilience and positive attitude to life 'Team Emma' made up of her family, friends and the Neston High School community are participating in a number of events in 2026. This gives us an opportunity to raise money for the Emma Mannix Tribute fund at Blood Cancer UK. We're a community dedicated to beating blood cancer. We do this by funding research and supporting those affected. Since 1960, we've invested over £500 million in blood cancer research, transforming treatments and saving lives. Right now, our community is funding 360 researchers and staff across the UK who are searching for the next breakthrough. The day we will beat blood cancer is now in sight and the researchers are determined to finish the job.
