Summer of Cycling and Running

The Macquaker family founded the Jasmine Foundation in memory of our daughter Jasmine. We aim to use this as a platform to assist others in need, to provide a resource for information around adolescent depression. The Jasmine Foundation aims to support the research and awareness of mental health in young people and prevention of suicide. We use creativity as a catalyst for mental wellbeing and hope our support will help young people and families to develop life skills and resilience.

Story

In June and July there will be two sporting challenges spanning the North and South of Britain in support of the Jasmine Foundation.

At the start of June there will be the inaugural Tour de Jaz. Edward and Charlie Macquaker will cycle from Edinburgh, over the Pentland Hills, to Nine Mile Burn. From there we head West to Ayr. There will be a coastal loop of the Southern Ayrshire coast via the Electric Brae. North to Ardrossan and a ferry to Arran. We then do a loop of Arran to Lochranza and over to Argyllshire. From there it is North to Oban, ferry over to Mull and a circuit of the island. This will be circa 600km in five days. This is merely the warm up. In July the Jasmine Foundation team head South to tackle the North Downs 50 Ultra Challenge trail run. Edward Macquaker and Annabelle Parbrook will be running 50km across the North Downs between Guilford and Dorking aiming for a time of around five hours.
