Thames Hospice Big Mountain Challenge 2026 · 18 September 2026 · Start fundraising for this event

The Big Mountain Challenge for Thames Hospice pits cyclists against three of the highest mountains in the world. In the French Alps, they ride the equivalent height and distance of The Matterhorn, Mount Kilimanjaro and Everest.

Story

Every other year my lifelong love and 40+ year family connection with Thames Hospice manifests itself in finding as many other kind-hearted nutters that I can to ride insane mountain climbs for 3.5 days on a bike to raise vital funds. I'll be trying to conquer the height of Everest in 3.5 Days. Bring on www.bigmountainchallenge.com 2026 at Mt Ventoux in Provence!

The hospice looks after 3k people annually with life limiting health conditions at home and on site; offering love, comfort and the best possible care when they need it most. They need £12M to do so and NHS funding has been cut as for many others from 48% to 28% of total overheads, despite care classified by the government as outstanding.

We're climbing mountains so Thames Hospice patients can climb theirs. Your help is greatly valued and appreciated by everyone involved.

Thames Hospice was co founded by my mum and my dad's closet friends after he died at 42 from cancer with limited support; to offer the best possible care for others in a similar situation.
