I’ve spent more than 25 years working in the automotive industry. Like many people in this sector, it has been far more than just a job — it’s been a career, a community, and a constant throughout my working life.

Over those years, I’ve seen the industry at both its best and its most challenging, and one organisation has consistently been there supporting the people who keep it moving: Ben.

Ben has supported thousands of individuals and families across the automotive industry. Whether it’s help with mental health, financial hardship, or personal crisis, Ben is there when people need it most — often at the toughest moments of their lives. Many of us don’t realise just how vital that support is until we, or someone close to us, needs it.

This year, I wanted to give something back.

Together with my daughter, I’ve signed up to run 106 kilometres around the Isle of Wight on 2nd May 2026 — a demanding ultra-challenge that will push us well outside our comfort zones, both physically and mentally. It’s not something I’ve taken on lightly, but it feels like a meaningful way to support a charity that has spent decades supporting people in our industry.

Running this distance will be tough. There will be long hours, tired legs, and moments when quitting feels tempting. But none of that compares to the challenges faced by those who turn to Ben for help — people dealing with stress, illness, financial worries, or mental health struggles while trying to continue working and supporting their families.

Every donation, no matter the size, will help Ben continue its essential work. Your contribution goes directly towards providing confidential advice, counselling, financial assistance, and wellbeing support for people across the automotive industry — people just like us.
