Ellison's Fund is a Special Fund of the Bone Cancer Research Trust raising vital funds for life-saving research into Ewing sarcoma.

Story

At 79, I walked 10km of the Cotswold Way to raise money for Ellison’s Fund which funds research into Ewing’s Sarcoma treatment through the Bone Cancer Research Trust. At 80, I am walking another 10km around my hometown of Petersfield on the 5th July 2025.

Tony’s story:

Ellison, my grandson. The journey with Ellison started when we all rejoiced at his birth; Joy and I were delighted for Becky and Jason when he arrived. Living 2.5hrs drive away we didn’t see as much of him as we would have liked. However, courtesy of Becky’s parents we holidayed in Cornwall and we got to know him well.

When we visited Cheltenham we took him to rugby and football and occasionally for hot chocolate with Alexa, usually in a cafe in the Bath Road, and from afar we followed his progress. It is now over 4 years since Ellison passed away and we will always keep his spirit alive and wonder how he would have coped with school exams etc. We do know one thing: Ellison was a popular boy as proved last year when two of his friends ran 50k to raise funds for Bone Cancer Charity. He would have just sat his GCSE exams and I have every confidence he would have done well.

God Bless you Ellison, you lit up our lives and you will always be in our hearts and minds.

The Bone Cancer Research Trust is dedicated to saving lives & improving outcomes for people affected by primary bone cancer. Despite being small, they fund more research projects exploring primary bone cancer than any other organisation. Other large UK cancer research charities do not prioritise bone cancer patients, in 2019 just 0.028% of their research spend went to bone cancer – not even close to 1%!

Last year alone, Bone Cancer Research Trust committed an incredible £807,824 to pioneering bone cancer research - to save lives!
