Story

On February 13th 2025, our 26 year old daughter Erica was admitted to A&E and spent two days in resuscitation where we were told she was critically ill. From there she was admitted to the cancer ward in Altnagelvin Hospital where she was diagnosed with Stage 4 Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. Within days, she started a brutal regime of chemotherapy. This was an awful time for our family and such a shock. The care we have received from Erica’s consultant and medical staff has been fantastic, along with involvement from Macmillan. They have been crucial in providing guidance and support.

I am a Crew Commander within City of Derry Airport Fire Service. During this distressing period, my colleagues have been fundamental for my own wellbeing, and we have agreed to climb Binevenagh Mountain on 12th July 2025 in full fire kit to raise money for Macmillan.

Without Macmillan, families like my own would never have received the wonderful care. Thank you for taking the time to read this story, and please donate if you can.
