Riding at least 144 miles in a day

1 in 8 men will get prostate cancer. At Prostate Cancer UK, we’re giving every man the power to navigate it. With over £100 million invested in research, treatment, and care, we’re building a future where prostate cancer no longer cuts men’s lives short. Together, we can help save men’s lives.

Story

In August 2024, I will be embarking on my hardest and longest challenge yet. This endeavour isn't just about personal achievement; it's about raising vital funds and awareness for a cause that is deeply significant – Prostate Cancer UK.

Sadly, my father Roy was diagnosed with Prostate Cancer 15 years ago and although he's a fighter, it’s no secret there is never an easy day.

Having witnessed the impact on his health, mental wellbeing and quality of life during this time, I want to do all I can to raise awareness so that others might not have to suffer, and it's why I'm making this my most challenging charity event yet!

Prostate Cancer is the most common amongst men, and across the UK:

• 144 men are diagnosed every day.

• Every 45 minutes a man dies from prostate cancer

• 1 in 8 men will be diagnosed in their lifetime.

• Around 490,000 men are living with or after prostate cancer.

So my pledge is this…

• To cycle 144 miles in one day – a mile for every man diagnosed in the UK each day.

• The cycle 8 laps of Gosport/Fareham/Titchfield – a lap for each of the 1 in 8 men who are diagnosed.

• To raise more than I ever have - £800 (£100 per lap)

Please help in any way you can, as this wont be an easy challenge on my legs, my mind or my bum!

and on a final note...

Regardless of the above and whatever your story, if you are male and over 50 - DO NOT WAIT to get tested.

Remember, if it’s caught early or before symptoms occur, you have a much higher chance of treating and preventing this disease - so be sure to ask your close family members, relatives, friends if they’ve been tested too.

Give them a nudge. Awareness is key and it could even save a life!

Thank you for reading and wish me luck!
