Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Some of my closest family and friends have decided to challenge ourselves to raise money for, what we all agree, is a great cause. To raise money for Cancer Research UK.
So why are we doing it. Primarily, it was to do a small something to raise money in supporting the research to find a cure for Cancer. We all know of friends and family, who have or had cancer is one or more of it's forms, and to do a small but hopefully significant part in helping support those "clever medical boffins" in finding ways to help alleviate suffering, prolong the lives and eventually find cure.
We were looking at doing it over 2 days during the hours of daylight......This was the first part of this fundraiser!
The second part and to us the most poignant.....things since we first thought of this fundraiser have rapidly changed, with the heartbreaking news a few days ago of my 14 year old nephew Rohan being diagnosed with Acute Myeliod Leukaemia (AML). He is currently in Cardiff's Noahs Ark Children's Hospital receiving treatment. He has, being "Ro", been amazingly brave, cheeky and upbeat but it will be a long journey to recovery. He has 6 months in hospital, and I am sure he will get plenty of "tech time" and "no school" which he will be over the moon about...
The intent is to start paddling along the River Wye from Hay on Wye on Saturday 3 May around 1130hrs and finishing at the canoe launch/recover point Paddocks Hotel around 1130hrs on Sunday 4 May. If have your own "craft", safety equipment and you wish to join us on part of the journey then please do so, but this won't be a "fishing trip" .... and outboard motors are not permitted, or advised.
Any contribution, small or large is greatly appreciated.
Thank you.
