Story
Back in 2016, I rode my bike from London to Paris in aid of Leukemia research. I couldn't have imagined at the time that, 6 years later, this terrible illness would visit my own family, but that is what happened in June 2022 when my youngest son, Jared (then aged 12) was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL).
As you can imagine, this was devastating news for all of us, but Jared has shown unbelievable bravery and resilience in fighting the illness and coping with the often debilitating treatment. Thanks to the outstanding care he is receiving at Alder Hey Children's Hospital, his treatment is progressing well, although it is a long road and there is still some way to go.
When I saw that Alder Hey Children's Charity was organising a bike ride for the summer, it seemed an obvious opportunity to give something back to the place that has given so much to Jared and us all as a family. So in June, I'll be back on the bike riding from London to Amsterdam - 340 miles over 4 days - in aid of a charity which aims to provide the hospital with vital funding for equipment and research, and to make life a little bit easier for all the children having treatment at Alder Hey. We are very grateful to have such amazing care so close at hand and would really welcome your support.
