Story
Thank you for taking the time to stop by my page. I am incredibly honored to be able to run the Royal Parks Half Marathon this year on behalf of the Children's Book Project (CBP) and in memory of my daughter Maddie.
Childhood literacy is so important and is fundamental for a child's development. However, access to books continues to be a major concern for families, and impacts how often children are read to at home. In fact, as of 2022, one in three disadvantaged children across the UK had fewer than ten books of their own at home, and one in ten had none.
CBP is trying to change this. By partnering with women's groups, children's centers, prisons and schools, CBP empowers children with the ability to select their own books to bring home by gifting gently used books to children across the UK.
Personally, there is nothing I have enjoyed more than being able to read to my children. Whether in the morning, while on the Tube, in the park, or just before bed, the ability to bring stories to life and inspire a love of reading in my children is extremely valuable and a feeling I want more families to be able to share.
My late daughter Maddie had a passion for reading and used books to explore her curiosity, learn something new, be silly and connect with my wife and me. This is why CBP has been such an important organization in my life - I understand its mission at the deepest level. There is no question about the benefits that come from having access to books for both children and their loved ones.
Please consider donating to this amazing cause and thank you in advance for your consideration.
