Aspire Solent Swim · 20 July 2025 to 14 September 2025 ·

Every two hours someone in the UK is paralysed by a spinal cord injury. It can happen to anyone at any time and no one is prepared for how it will change their life. Aspire is a national charity that provides practical help, supporting spinal cord injured people from injury to independence.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

My name is Jason and I'm 13 years old.

In 2025 I will take on my biggest challenge yet. On the 20th of July my Mum and I plan to swim from Portsmouth to the Isle of Wight to raise money for the spinal Injury charity Aspire.

We will need to be prepared to swim for up to 2 hrs depending on currents and battle whatever elements the sea and weather throw at us.

Why Aspire?

Every two hours, someone in the UK is paralysed by Spinal Cord Injury. Disability is expensive; lightweight wheelchairs can cost over £4,000. Aspire visits newly injured patients in hospital to offer support and advice, and point people to services such as Aspire Housing, which is a temporary accessible housing solution. We also train people, regardless of their level of injury, to use computers with the aid of Assistive Technology. Our Welfare benefits advice service ensures that people receive the benefits they are legally entitled to. Your generosity will mean that Aspire can help many more people with spinal cord injuries to live independent and fulfilled lives
