During 2024 I will be aiming to raise money for Maggie's in Cheltenham by attempting several ultra marathons. An ultra marathon, also called ultra distance or ultra running, is any footrace longer than the traditional marathon length of 42.195 kilometres (26 mi 385 yd).

The final event for 2024 is the Cotswold Way Century.

The event is taking place 14/15 Sep 24 and involves 103 miles of non-stop racing from Chipping Campden to Bath along the Cotswold Way National Trail.

The route really is very hilly, because the people who created it wanted you to see every beautiful viewpoint on the top and every chocolate-box village at the bottom, and the only way to do that is to keep going up and down. There are a few road sections, a lot of hard stone tracks, plenty of green and grassy paths, and a fair number of ploughed fields along your route.

It’s really quite difficult…
