Story
My name is Jason, and I'm running the Chester Marathon 2026 in support of the Humane Research Trust. I'm studying graduate-entry medicine at the University of Chester, with a background in psychology and neuroscience.
As a future doctor, I believe wholeheartedly in the pursuit of knowledge and the betterment of human lives through research. Our ability as a species to reduce suffering and create healthier, happier lives is a blessing, and we ought to exercise it. I also believe we hold a responsibility for the lives of each other, and for those of all sentient creatures on this earth.
This is why I've chosen to raise money for a charity that embodies this purpose, promoting medical research using entirely non-animal methods. I'd encourage you to visit their website to read about specific projects in areas like pancreatic and bowel cancer, paediatric brain tumours, the gut-brain link in neurological conditions and vaccine and respiratory research. Thank you for your support!
