Cystic fibrosis (CF) is a life-shortening genetic condition that slowly destroys the lungs and digestive system. The Cystic Fibrosis Trust is the only UK-wide charity fighting for a life unlimited, when everyone living with CF can look forward to a long, healthy life. www.cysticfibrosis.org.uk

Story

In 2024, the Leeds and Ankara Adult and Paediatric CF units have joined a twinning project as part of a wider European ECFS initiative. The aim is to leverage their expertise to support newer units in other parts of Europe. To mark the UK CF Trust's 60th Anniversary, they have embarked on a monumental team cycling and running challenge, covering 4714 miles from Leeds to Ankara and back. This endeavor not only celebrates the camaraderie within the Leeds community but also aims to raise funds for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust, with 10% of the proceeds contributing towards the Twinning project. The challenge kicks off on June 29th, with a staff cycle ride, followed by daily activities and cycling/ running over two weeks, culminating in a grand finale on July 14th. The event holds special significance as it unites people affected by cystic fibrosis in their pursuit of effective treatment for all. Join us in this personal challenge as we strive to make a difference for those battling this genetic condition.
