Story
In early 2026, I’ll be setting out on a 50 day solo walk across Spain, starting in Seville, following historic Camino routes north to Santiago de Compostela, and then continuing on the Camino de Levante to my mother’s home. It’s a long walk, but a deliberately steady one.
The walk is about something much closer to everyday life: how we stay capable, active, and resilient as we get older. Day by day, I’ll be walking, resting, and adapting under load, exploring what it really takes to maintain strength, balance, mobility, and clarity over time.
My interest in this comes from experience. I’m a former soldier with 17 years of service, and I’ve spent much of my life active in sport and the outdoors. Like many people in midlife, I’ve also had to contend with injuries that forced me to rethink how I move, train, and recover. More recently, working in rehabilitation, I’ve seen firsthand how people rebuild their lives after illness or injury often quietly, and with remarkable determination.
This journey is also a way of giving back. I’m grateful to be walking in support of the CiaO Foundation, whose work reflects the same values I see every day in recovery and care: dignity, encouragement, and the belief that people can regain capability even after major setbacks.
Thank you for supporting the walk in whatever way feels right to you.
