Story
Six of us (Tej, James, Sam, Jasper, Cosmo and John). A 100km ultra through the Sahara. 20 hours to complete.
On October 3rd, we’re taking on the UMED 100 km Ultra Marathon in Tunisia, pushing ourselves through 100 km of the Sahara in what is going to be one seriously long day.
But we want all those kilometres to count for something.
Despite recent increases in awareness around mental health, in the UK we still lose someone to suicide every 75 minutes and suicide is the leading cause of death in all adults under the age of 35 in England and Wales.
That’s why we’re fundraising for The Listening Place, a charity providing free, face-to-face, non-judgmental and confidential support to those who feel suicidal. Support is delivered by their team of highly trained volunteers and continues for as long as a person needs.
There is strong evidence to show that their support works, with their visitors experiencing highly significant decreases in distress and suicidal feelings and highly significant increases in feelings of support.
It costs The Listening Place less than £300 to fully fund support for one visitor for as long as it takes to reduce their suicidal feelings.
Every donation helps support such a meaningful cause that is very close to our hearts and gives us another reason to keep shuffling through those sand dunes!
If you can’t donate, sharing this page is just as appreciated. Thank you so much!!
