Story
Hiya!
We are running the Royal Parks Half-Marathon this October on behalf of my friend Amy Hallam, who has been battling Breast Cancer since the beginning of the year. We are doing so to raise money for The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity - who have been responsible for Amy's treatment and taking the best possible care of her every step of the way. This is an outstanding organization who greatly deserve your donation!
A message from A message from Amy:
"In December, when I stopped breastfeeding, I had a weird stretch mark which was covering a lump and it wasn’t the benign kind.
My local hospital could not offer me anything but a single mastectomy which didn’t feel very sexy at 36 and they had also waited three months to offer me this conclusion, going over NHS recommended timelines for a cancer diagnosis.
As my mental and physical health deteriorated, I was lucky enough to get a referral through a friend of a friend to a surgeon at The Royal Marsden. That first day in her office, I was told that they were willing to take me on, that they would save my breasts and that they would start everything within 2 short weeks. They also promised they would look after me through all my post treatment including chemotherapy, radiotherapy and the most up to date hormone treatments.
The gratitude I have for every person that works at The Royal Marsden is indescribable and I am so happy that Gav, Leonie and Juraj are doing this run to give back a little and to most importantly fund RM to help more people in the future.
Thanks so much to everyone for donating!
Love Ames”
