Story
Hello hello.
I planned on walking 100 miles around the Isle of Man this spring (26 March-4 April) for a personal challenge. Then when I took myself on a little walk around London town last week, I saw this on a sticker posted on a lampost:
1 Male Dies By Suicide Every Minute
I easily could have missed it. But I didn't. And I've been thinking about that statistic since. It's a global statistic. And it's fucking tragic.
Narrowing it down to the UK, nearly 12 men lose their lives to suicide every day. Men die by suicide at a rate three times more often than women.
While in the United States, the suicide rate among males is four times higher than among females. Male deaths represent 79% of suicides, amounting to roughly 105 men who die by suicide every day.

In the video above, I talk about my experience with suicide. My realisation was that suicide is never the answer. But I understand its appeal... watch if you'd like a bit of insight.
I also wrote this in December 2020. It's a bit more on my battle with Crohn's as a teenager: https://gutsandsoul.blog/2021/03/13/crohns-story-part-1/
