We are crossing the bay for Derian House Children's Hospice!

Morecambe Bay Walk for Derian House Children's Hospice · 27 May 2023
Myself, Mr G, Suzanne and Martin are hitting the bay!
On 27th May we will be walking across Morecambe Bay to raise funds for the children and families of Derian House Children's Hospice.
Derian House is such a special place and supported Ian and I through saddest time of our lives during the loss of our beautiful boy Matthew. They are still continuing to support us and we attend the annual Forget Me Not service at the Hospice.
Derian House is 30 years old this year, coincidently, Ian and I are celebrating our 30th Wedding Anniversary in May.
We thought (well I did!) that this would be a great way to celebrate, remember our beautiful boy Matthew (who would have been 25 this May), and to an opportunity to raise much needed cash for the amazing Derian House all at the same time!
We will be starting off in Arnside, our Guide to the sands Michael Wilson will lead our party to the picturesque village of Grange-over-Sands. This 7 mile walk can be challenging so we are expecting various weather conditions and maybe even a 50 meter wade through water up to 2ft in depth. We have done the walk before and last time we had to complete the walk trudging through a stinky bog - we are hoping that the tides will be kind to us this time around though.
Please give what you can, as every penny helps. It costs Derian House a staggering £6 million to run every year - with only 30% of funding coming from the government.
DerIan House provides respite and end-of-life care to more than 400 children and young people across the North West.
They do this 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and never close to those who need them.
The help extends right across the family to brothers, sisters, parents and grandparents.
They look after children and young people right up until their 26th birthday offering palliative care, respite stays, day care, holidays and end of life support. They continue to offer transition support for those young people who are leaving Derian House up until their 28th birthday ensuring they have a well-established network of support in their community.
