Story
Arthur’s Mini Mile ❤️
On the 4th November 2024, Arthur was seen at Nobles Hospital Outpatients following an earlier hospital admission with pneumonia. At this appointment, the doctor noticed an undiagnosed heart murmur which needed to be monitored. The doctors were unsure what was causing the murmur but knew it wasn’t normal. At his next check up on 25th June 2025, it was decided that the murmur had worsened and we needed to go to Alder Hey the next week for a CT scan under general anesthetic . It was at this appointment, we found out Arthur had Anomalous Left Coronary Artery from the Pulmonary Artery - ALCAPA.
Following on from his diagnosis, on 22nd October 2025, Arthur had Open Heart Surgery at Alder Hey Children’s Hospital. These last few months couldn’t have been harder for us all as a family but we will be forever grateful for all of the staff on ICU and Ward 1C.
If Arthur’s ALCAPA, had not been noticed by chance, it would have been likely he’d have had a sudden cardiac death. Although ALCAPA isn’t usually caught in pregnancy, myself and Matt have had endless conversation of how unaware we were of CHD and how essential it is that it is spotted and treated as soon as possible. This is why Arthur and ourselves will be supporting Tiny Tickers this heart week ❤️
Tiny Tickers train sonographers to have the confidence and skills to detect heart defects at pregnancy scans. They place potentially life-saving pulse oximetry machines in maternity units. They spread awareness of the key signs a baby may have a heart defect. And support families, like us who are on the most difficult journey they've ever been on.
On Saturday 14th February 2026, Arthur plans to walk a mile with myself and his dad in order to raise as much money as we can for Tiny Tickers. Arthur has luckily recovered beyond any expectations and we wanted to give back to one of the many charities who have supported us.
Any donation for A’s walk would be greatly appreciated and we can’t wait to share his updates with you.
