We are WWT the wetland restoration charity. We’re on a mission to restore wetlands because they are a wondrous solution to the problems our world faces. Together we will unlock their power – and help nature burst back to life. Because when wetlands flourish, all life will flourish.

Story

Jayne and Hugh share a passion for waterfowl. It is fair to say that Hugh introduced Jayne to his love of birds and Jayne has particularly taken ducks under her wing. Jayne and Hugh are joint members of WWT and have visited most of the WWT centres in the UK.

Tufted ducks are very prevalent in the Hampton area and Hugh pointed them out to Jayne on their first walk together. Two special Tufted moments since then were observing a mallard rearing a Tufted duckling as part of her brood at Crown Lakes and seeing an active and mischevious brood of Tufted ducklings at Slimbridge with their mother.

The other duck that had an instant impact on the first visit to Slimbridge was the Puna Teal, really friendly with pretty blue bill.

Wetlands are essential for life. The Wildfowl & Wetlands Trust (WWT) creates and protects wetland habitats to provide water, food and shelter for people and wildlife. They save species around the world from extinction, and their nine UK Wetland Centres inspire thousands of visitors to enjoy being close to nature.
