Story
All training being logged on updates!!!
Welcome!!! :) 🙂
I’m rewriting this(03/04) after hitting 30KM in training, a huge milestone and I'm hyped!l I finally believe I can do it, the low-key anxiety's of being carted off in a foil blanket(lol) are shifting to those of excitement. With that I want to share my why, unfiltered. This means a lot to me.
This is the short synopsis because the longer version is LONG(below)
I’m running the London Marathon and raising money for Amnesty International UK because I genuinely give a f*ck about people. I care. It’s as simple as that.
I’m not on the front line. I’m not the one creating change at scale. But there are people who are; every single day - and this is my way of backing them.
I have immense respect to everybody working in the sector - and I too am part of that! I wear my Not for Profit badge with pride! Less go!
42km, 26 miles is no joke lol!
So if human rights matter to you, if people matter to you… then please donate.
Everything else - the story, the miles, the journey, is below.

HARD WORK? DEDICATION!
Longer version...
Who am I?
No big story or dramatic angle.
Just a regular 38-year-old guy with a reconstructed knee who got tired of seeing so much death and injustice… and decided to do something about it.
My why
I’ve worked in recruitment within the not-for-profit sector for the past 8 years, and it’s been the best thing I’ve ever done. I LOVE IT. I've learned and seen first-hand how many incredible organisations and individuals are out there - all striving to make positive change in the world.
That’s a bit of me. That’s who I am and I am incredibly fortunate to be in a position to do this.
I believe in giving back and being part of the change I want to see - just keepin’ it real. true and honest.
But…
What has directly led me here is the feeling of loss and realisation being so prevalent in my life over the past couple of years. It’s been tough, challenging - all at the same time, we’re all witnessing so much devastation in the world.
As the kids say, peak!
If you have the internet, you know - it’s everywhere.
Through social media, camera phones, and constant news updates, we are seeing violence, death, oppression, and human rights being stripped away in real time.
I’m agnostic - maybe there’s a God, maybe there isn’t. But if there is, I don’t think he'd sign off on any of this!
Watching children, families, entire communities collecting fragments of loved ones… it changes you. It changed me. It opened
I never want to live in a world where this is okay. And it’s not okay. We all know it's not okay.
I will always say that with my chest.
I will always support the oppressed and those in need however I can.
Maybe I was naïve before - but not anymore. I’m a 38-year-old man with my eyes open, and I’m stepping up.
Through it all, Amnesty International UK, have been active protecting OUR Human Rights since 1961, 64 years - that's the majority or all of our lives! Consistently. Holding governments accountable and protecting human rights when they are under threat.
I mean, who doesn't agree with Human Rights?
If you don’t know, get to know. Follow their socials, give their website a read and remember....
It's better to light a candle than to curse the darkness
I feel guilty that all I can do is this. But they’re out there doing the real work. Being the voice of the voiceless.
That’s why I’m proud to be #TeamAmnesty.
Why I’m running 26.2 miles
To challenge myself. To push through discomfort. To do something I never imagined I could do.
London Marathon is no joke - 26 miles, 42KM lol.
And when I finish it, it’s going to mean everything. I’ll probably cry. Not even probably, definitely 😂
I started out with a bit of a pipe dream aiming for sub‑4 hours 🫣 quickly humbled, but I’m still treating this like a proper race and pushing for sub‑4:30. It’s going to be tough, but I’m giving it my best shot!
Either way, I’ll be viiiiibing the whole way the playlist is a solid 11/10(truss me with zi riddimz) and I’m just planning to soak up every single moment!!!
Where I am now…
When I started training 17 weeks ago, I was in a completely different place. It's been head down, grinding! This journey has been ultimately so rewarding, physically and mentally. I mean there is literally no down side to fundraising.
and today - after running 30km - I believe. FINALLY. I'm not shook any more!
Over 320km covered in training.
London Marathon?
Are you mad?
Especially after what my knee has been through, I don't want to keep harping on about this but it really was life changing. anyway...
I. AM. GASSED.
Keep an eye out for me if you're there on the day!!
What it means to me?
Raising money for Amnesty International UK and being part of something bigger than myself.
I said last year when I ran the Hackney Half, raising money for ReachOut UK that the drive has always been just to help. London 2026 is a continuation of making fundraising a permanent fixture of in my life, in Punjabi we call it 'seva'
Kilimanjaro next? Who knows.
But right now - it’s about London 2026 and it's about AMUK
It’s about doing something meaningful here and now. And that is all that matters.
Why should you donate?
Honestly?
Because I’m going to earn it(and I say please 🙂)
I’ve followed my plan 95% consistently and diligently. 8/9 hours per week most weeks. Managing aches, pushing through, showing up. It's tough.
Training through the winter months is bloody hard!
This wasn’t “sign up and hope for the best.”
I’ve put the work in. And I’ll keep putting it in.
I respect how hard everyone works for their money - especially right now. I value your money, so if you donate, just know I'm giving this my all and WE are making a difference.
.
Every mile has been earned. Every donation means something.
Final bit
Any donation, no matter how small, makes a difference.
And if not for me, support another cause. There are so many incredible people doing meaningful things - let's support each other.
Because imagine a world without charities…
Or worse - a world without human rights.
Giving back is cool. Being kind is cool. Helping people is cool.
“If you a fan of human rights, you a fan of yo’self.
Thank you so much for reading and supporting 💛
I appreciate you,
Jaypal — running in memory of Hind Rajab, 5 years old. Over 300 bullets. Never forget.
