Story
For the past three years my mum and I have ran the Manchester Great Run for Liv’s Trust and managed to raise through the extreme generosity of so many people just under £3000. This year our fundraiser kicks off in the same way with us both partaking in the Great Manchester Run on the 18th of May 2025.
This year it will be 8 years since the Manchester attack where 22 beautiful souls were taken far too early. We first had the privilege of running for Liv's Trust in 2022 and this year we will be doing a special fundraiser.
Liv will always be remembered. Her name will live on in the hearts of the hundreds of lives changed by the donations to Liv's Trust. Liv's legacy has already changed so many lives for the better. It is a privilege to once again be running in Liv's memory.
However, this year is especially difficult as Steve will not be waiting at the finish line for a big bear hug as he sadly passed away last September. Steve was such a beautiful soul and his love and hope lives on through the vital work that Sharon does within the trust. Each year running for Liv has been so therapeutic for us and given myself and my mum (Fran) a positive goal to work towards to help distract us from the toughness of the anniversary. Out of such an atrocity Steve brought happiness, love, light and help show there was actually love in this world and it wasn’t filled with hate. We will continue to always choose love and help support the legacy you and Sharon created now in your memory.
That's why this year we want to do something special for Steve and Liv.
This year myself and my mum are taking on our biggest challenge yet. We are going to do 8 Runs each to represent each year that has passed year since the Manchester Arena Bombing on the 22nd May 2017. I (Jasmine) will be completing 8 Half Marathons and my mum (Fran) will be completing 8 10km's all within the space of just under a year (February 2026).
The money we will raise enables Liv’s trust to put on vital workshops in drama, music and dance for young children. I have taught at these clubs and have seen the first hand benefits and joy it brings so many young children instilling them with confidence and a safe space to express themselves freely. They also support young adults with their career paths, paying for and supporting drama school applications which they simply wouldn’t be able to pursue without the help of Liv’s Trust.
8 years ago on the 22nd May 2017 my mum, mine and so many lives changed forever. At 22:31 a bomb was detonated at the arena, killing 22 beautiful angels one of them being Olivia Campbell-Hardy, and physically and mentally injuring so many others. Since then myself and my mum have both struggled with the ongoing affects of PTSD, which have and still can be very difficult to manage. Personally something which really helped me through was my love of the arts, I vividly remember going to dancing the very next day as it felt like it was a safe space to express my emotions and how I was feeling as well as being a distraction from what was going on in my head. Music and the Arts help so many people through tough times and in Liv’s Legacy Steve and Sharon ,her grandparents, set out to help as many young people as they could with the very passion that Olivia had, performing.
No donation is too small, we want to raise as much money as possible for Liv’s Trust and to remember Steve as it’s a cause so close to our hearts and we know what a major difference it can make in young people lives.
Please donate if you can, any donation will make a difference.
