RBKares is a fully volunteer run charity that connects the kindness and generosity of the community in Kingston-Upon-Thames with vulnerable people and key-workers. Set up during the pandemic, RBKares focuses on providing local support to NHS staff, care homes and to other vulnerable groups including refugees, the elderly, people struggling with the cost of living and the homeless. Campaigns range from monthly wellbeing events for vulnerable and homeless people to 'winter warmer bags’, from care home Christmas gifts to refugee sewing groups, from projects supporting Kingston Hospital to boosting morale of young carers. We use the community's sewing and crafting skills to make items, distribute kindness kits and sort donations. Our goal is to make a difference on a personal level, by plugging support gaps or by complementing local services to support community members. We deliver projects that make a real difference. RBKares creates social change, tackles inequality and makes the community a kinder, better place to live.

Story

Thank you so much for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I’m raising some funds to purchase Cadbury’s Creme Eggs for a wonderful local charity group, RBKares.

A group of lovely volunteers meet every other week at Alfriston, Surbiton, where they lovingly knit and crochet covers for these eggs, (take a look at my gallery to see them) as well as many other beautiful handmade items.

At Christmas time they also contributed to “Warmer in Winter” bags, which include handmade blankets, hats and scarves. These are shared with members of our community who need them most.

For Easter, the group has already made over 200 fabulous egg covers, with lots of different characters designed to bring joy and smiles. These will be distributed within the community to young carers, the elderly, Kingston Hospital and others who may need a little extra kindness.

I contacted a few large supermarkets for donations, but they are understandably swamped with requests. So I’m turning to my lovely friends for help.

If you could spare the cost of two packs of 8 Creme Eggs (around £10), I would be incredibly grateful.

As a small thank you, I’ll do a little drawing for you in return. 🎨
