Story
A year of challenges in memory of my dad
In April last year, we lost my wonderful dad. His passing marked the end of a long, challenging journey — one that my family, especially my sister and I, walked alongside him.
Now, as we navigate life without him, I've chosen to take on a massive personal challenge to honour his memory and fight for a cause that became so personal to us: Dementia UK.
What started as a single race has evolved into a year-long mission. Every summit I reach and every mile I trek this year is a step in Dad's memory, reflecting the love and resilience he showed throughout his life.
The Winter Start: Pen y Fan
January 24th — Brecon Beacons
To kick things off, I headed to the Brecon Beacons to tackle Pen y Fan in the middle of the Welsh winter. Unpredictable conditions — biting winds and ice — made it the necessary first test to get my legs and my head ready for the massive elevation to come.
The Main Event: The Jurassic Coast Ultra Challenge
Saturday 16th May 2026 — Dorset
For the second time, I'll be tackling this gruelling 58-kilometre trek from the iconic ruins of Corfe Castle all the way to Weymouth — over 1,500m of elevation across some of the UK's most unforgiving coastal terrain.
I know exactly how physically and mentally demanding this is, and I know just how ridiculous it is to attempt it again. But this time, every single step along that beautiful coast is for him.
The Fort William Four
Late summer — Scotland
A two-day challenge in the Scottish Highlands, focusing on the iconic mountains around Fort William — including the UK's highest peak via one of its most exhilarating and technical routes.
Day 1: Ascending the CMD Arête to Ben Nevis (1,345m).
Day 2: Càrn Mòr Dearg (1,220m), Aonach Beag (1,234m), and Aonach Mòr (1,221m).
The Autumn Ascent: Snowdon (Yr Wyddfa)
End of summer — Wales
To close out the year, I'll be summiting Snowdon — the highest peak in Wales. After everything that's come before, this final climb will be a moment to reflect on the whole journey and everything it has been for.
More details to follow on the final chapters of this challenge. Thank you for following along, and for supporting a cause that means the world to my family.
