Story

The bad news:

1 in 3 of us will get Dementia.

The better news:

We are at a tipping point in diagnosis and treatment. To get us to the point where we are not diagnosed too late and we are offered an effective treatment, we need research.

So please support Julian, Nick and Chris to change the ending for people affected - because it could be you, a family member or your friend.

It will come too late for Julian who was diagnosed with a rare early onset form of Alzheimer’s called Primary Progressive Aphasia or PPA during Covid. Julian loses words and can have trouble understanding words. He has always been an articulate and social person and is now increasingly isolated. His world is contracting. To know what you want to say but be unable to fetch the language is incredibly frustrating but his family and close friends can fill in the gaps.

Julian can still run. He and his wife Grainne ran the London marathon together for Alzheimer's research last year. Julian is doing it again but this time with his fast (literally?) friends Chris and Nicolas. The guys met on their first day at university and have put up with each other ever since. Between them they have a few marathons under their belts but this is the first time they have run together and have committed to 26 miles in London in 2025. Please give your support, everything counts.

Julian’s condition will progress but your donation will help the many people affected by Alzheimer’s get much earlier diagnosis and get access to the new treatments which are beginning to change the ending.
