Liverpool Women’s is a recognised centre of excellence for neonatal care - providing care for babies born prematurely, with low weight or who have a medical cond We're sharing Ibbie's story to help raise much needed funds for our Neonatal Families.

Story

I am raising money for the Liverpool Womens Hospital Neonatal Unit, in aid of the recent passing of my nephew and his wife's premature baby Rosie.

After a couple of weeks of numerous tests at Liverpool Womens Hospital, they found out that Rosie had a rare genetic condition called Nonketotic Hyperglycinemia, which means that she couldn't pass through glycine like you should be able to and she was unable to come off her ventilator. They decided to withdraw car for Rosie after consultations with doctors, as they felt that it was in Rosie's best interest to pass on her own terms.

After the family said their goodbyes, they sat in the peaceful remembrance garden where they got a few hours to say goodbye to Rosie and she opened her eyes for the first time to look at them. She sadly passed away at 5am on Friday morning in their arms whilst under the stars listening to lullaby renditions of rock songs.

We cannot thank Liverpool womens NICCU nurses, doctors and consultants for their incredible hard work diagnosing the condition that Rosie had and the unforgettable care that Rosie, Matt and Jess received. We also thank everyone who has been invested in their journey and we love you all.
