1.3 mile Sea Swim · 20 September 2025

COAST’s vision is that our seas become healthy - supporting marine life, enabling coastal communities to thrive and inspiring future generations. Our mission is for Arran to be a model for community-led marine recovery, driven by research, education and campaigning.

Story

The Lamlash Splash is an annual 1.3 mile sea swim from Holy Isle across Lamlash Bay (Firth of Clyde) to Lamlash Pier.

So it's my 2nd Lamlash Splash and I aim to beat last years time - I've been trying to improve my speed and have been following the Ocean Walker Technique - lets see if it makes a difference!

As I mainly swim (and line fish) in the seas surrounding Arran It only seemed right to support the great work that COAST are doing…

The Community of Arran Seabed Trust (COAST) is a community-led organisation that has made a huge difference to the conservation and restoration of the seas around Arran and the Clyde over the last three decades. COAST stand for a diverse, abundant and beautiful marine environment for everyone.

COAST aim to:

- Improve the local marine environment for the benefit of everyone

- Ensure coastal communities have their say

- Educate future generations

- Work to sustain the livelihoods of those dependent on fishing and tourism
