The annual ‘Lamlash Splash’ on the Isle of Arran - a 1.3mile sea swim from Holy Isle across Lamlash Bay to Lamlash Pier · 21 September 2024

COAST’s vision is that our seas become healthy - supporting marine life, enabling coastal communities to thrive and inspiring future generations. Our mission is for Arran to be a model for community-led marine recovery, driven by research, education and campaigning.

Story

Since moving from the Lake District, where I swam daily in the nearby Lakes, to the Isle of Arran where I have built up the confidence to swim most days. Swimming in the sea is so much more challenging for me than lake swimming - it’s taken a while to get used to it!

With the 1.3 mile Lamlash Splash sea swim, It only seemed right to support the great work that COAST are doing…

The Community of Arran Seabed Trust (COAST) is a community-led organisation that has made a huge difference to the conservation and restoration of the seas around Arran and the Clyde over the last three decades. COAST stand for a diverse, abundant and beautiful marine environment for everyone.

COAST aim to:

- Improve the local marine environment for the benefit of everyone

- Ensure coastal communities have their say

- Educate future generations

- Work to sustain the livelihoods of those dependent on fishing and tourism
