Team Sue Ryder are taking on the TCS London Marathon 2025 to ensure no-one faces death or grief alone. Every step you take will help us to be there when it matters.

Story

Sue Ryder supports people through the most difficult times of their lives. Whether thats a terminal illness or the loss of a loved one, they're there when it matters. Their doctors, nurses and carers give people the compassion and expert care they need to help them live the best life they possibly can.

From as early as I can remember, my mum was always full of life - one of the many reasons I loved her. After dedicating most of her working life to the NHS, she settled down to enjoy her retirement with my dad. Luckily, she and Dad spent many years living their best lives - most of the time, my brother and I didn’t have a clue where they were at any given moment because they had so many wonderful adventures! Unfortunately, everything changed in the spring of 2022 when she developed a brain tumour. She fought with immense bravery until the February of the following year when she sadly lost her battle with this cruel illness.

My family and I will never forget the incredible care and support we received from the Sue Ryder Thorpe Hall Hospice. Given how amazing everyone was with my mum throughout her heartbreaking journey, I made the decision to give something back. I’m going to be running the London Marathon in support of this wonderful charity. As I pound the pavements of the capital, I will remember all the lovely memories I have of my mum.

Please do consider sponsoring me in memory of my wonderful mum - this will challenge me both emotionally and physically. Every donation, big, small or anywhere in between, will be gratefully received.
