Dogs Trust is the largest dog welfare charity in the UK. We love all dogs, and the people who love dogs too. We care for dogs in need through our network of 22 centres across the UK and Ireland, finding them loving new homes. A dog is for Life, not just for Christmas ©

Story

Jeffrey Long MBE, former para, is heading out on another epic walking challenge this September and October in aid of Dogs Trust.

Jeffrey aged 92 years this October, will be walking everyday to raise money to help more rescue dogs currently in the care of Dogs Trust find their forever homes.

Jeffrey has raised approx. £400k from his previous fundraising challenges since 2007, which is a phenomenal achievement, and he is looking to raise further funds for Dogs Trust from this challenge. Any donations are very greatly received.

For the last 5 years, Jeffrey has been receiving daily chemo for cancer, which he has to continue to undertake for rest of his life.

Jeffrey is also walking with a back injury he sustained in 1954 when his parachute malfunctioned and he fell several hundred feet to the ground, severely injuring himself. He now walks with a limp and a walking stick which aggravates his back, restricting how many miles he can achieve per day.

This is a huge challenge and any support is greatly received.

Dogs Trust is the UK’s largest dog welfare charity and normally cares for around 14,000 dogs across its network of 21 rehoming centres in the UK and one in Dublin.

Dogs Trust has a non-destruction policy and will never put a healthy dog to sleep. The charity also focuses its efforts on understanding dogs and sharing that knowledge with the wider public to prevent problem behaviours that can result in relinquishment or abandonment.

They are working towards the day when all dogs can enjoy a happy life, free from the threat of unnecessary destruction.
