A minimum of 100 miles hiking/trail walking each month in 2024

The RAF Benevolent Fund is the RAF's leading welfare charity. We have been there for all members of the RAF Family for over 100 years. Last year we assisted more than 70,000 members of the RAF Family. Support us in 2024 and help us reach even more members of the RAF Family.

Story

In October 2024 it is the 100th Anniversary of the Formation of the Auxiliary Air Force (AAF) and it's successor the Royal Auxiliary Air Force (RAuxAF) and we will remember all those men and women who have served around the world in peace and in war and have also supported the Royal Air Force (RAF) in both exercises and operations. Today they are an integral part of the RAF's contribution to UK Defence, providing specialist skills either as individuals or as part of one of the 30 Squadrons and units around the UK. One hundred years of dedicated service has been supported by friends, families, employers and local communities. All of these are welcome to get involved throughout 2024 in events that have a theme of "100" whether related to those serving now or at any time over the last century. The RAF Benevolent Fund provides welfare support for all members of the RAF family. The Royal Auxiliary Air Force Foundation built, and is responsible for, the AAF/RAuxAF Memorial at the National Memorial Arboretum (NMA) in Staffordshire. They also created the AAF/RAuxAF Roll of Honour in the RAF Church of St Clement Danes in London, and are the custodians of the Force history, tradition, heritage and customs. Various events are taking place in 2024 to commemorate the centenary, most of which involve the Foundation to some degree.

"COMITAMUR AD ASTRA"........We go with them to the stars.

I am raising funds by hiking a minimum of 100 miles each month during 2024 as recorded by my Garmin device. This will be proper 'boots-on' walking, mainly in the Yorkshire Wolds and Dales, the North Yorkshire Moors and the Peak District.
