Story
I am running the London Landmarks Half Marathon in April 2025 in support of the 'Pass The Smile for Ben' campaign. Ben was a little boy who lived close by in Earlsdon who tragically passed away in 2019 from a type of cancer called rhabdomyosarcoma, 'forever seven'. His Special Named Fund is dedicated to funding vital research into this disease, and supportive care as well through the Children's Cancer and Leukaemia Group.
Ben's legacy is alive in the local community and his family's strength and dedication in ensuring his memory lives on is truly inspirational. My girls are 8, almost 6 and 4 and I cannot begin to imagine what they have endured. I want to show the girls that they can achieve anything they put their minds to if they work hard enough. As a mum, as a member of the Earlsdon community and now as a (very amateur!) runner, I wanted to set this page up in time for September which is Childhood Cancer Awareness month, when much of Earlsdon 'goes gold' in memory of Ben and to acknowledge him and other superheroes who have fought and are fighting cancer.
In these difficult times if you can spare a few pounds to donate to this incredible cause and keep me motivated during those lonely training runs I would be so very grateful.
Jemma xx
