In 2024 my husband Matt suffered a cardiac arrest at 37 years old. He had no previous heart problems or symptoms before he collapsed.

Matt was lucky to be a part of the 10% of those who suffer a cardiac arrest outside of hospital to survive.

Not everyone is as fortunate.

CRY helps screen young people for potential life threatening cardiac conditions, allowing those affected to look at treatment, lifestyle advice and even surgery.

They also support those left behind after a cardiac death, helping them understand what has happened and refer them to specialists in inherited conditions.

Every week in the UK at least 12 apparently fit and healthy young people die of undiagnosed cardiac conditions.
