Story
The numbers don't lie and if a cardiac arrest victim is defibrillated within the first 3 minutes from collapse they have a 70% chance of survival. (Ambulance response in the region of 7 minutes)
Having last week experienced this happen to a poor gentleman in a local supermarket. They had a defibrillator machine and managed to get his heart started and him breathing again giving the paramedics the best possible chance to help him.
This machine is amazing. It tells you exactly what to do which is essential as no matter how prepared you are, as a member of the public, panic sets in.
Having since looked into this and where all our local machines are is certainly not ideal! All the schools have them but a lot of them are only during school hours.
I have been in contact with a local Paramedic "Justin" that runs a charity "Hearts for Herts." They currently have government funding to contribute towards the cost of each machine and installation. They would then look after this machine, service it, change pads etc as and when required. Also there would be bleed kits in each box too. Another essential in communities.
They would offer local training on the machines too.
I know that this is not the best time of year to be asking for donations but would appreciate all the help I can get please? Any amount will help! The more money the more machines and the closer you would be to one in event of finding yourself in this terrible situation. Keeping families in the community safe being the priority.
