Story
Hi everyone!
Thank you for visiting our page to read about our Kilimanjaro challenge!
We, Georgia and Jenna, are final year medical students at Keele University. In this, our final year, training to be doctors, we have the incredible opportunity to travel elsewhere to work during our elective period. Wanting to get out and explore a different side of medicine, we decided to go to Tanzania. Here, we will be working in a rural hospital and in the community, learning about the challenges faced by both healthcare professionals and patients, in an area of lower socio-economic development.
Excited for our upcoming adventure, we began looking at the amazing extra-curricular activities we could embark on, to explore the country to its fullest during our visit. And, as avid hikers, the opportunity to climb the nearby Kilimanjaro was one we leapt at.
In preparing for this ambitious experience, we decided we would love to raise some money to support the wards at the hospital we have trained at for the past 5 years - the Royal Stoke. Having witnessed the amazing work they do for thousands of children every day, and as aspiring Paediatric / Emergency Medicine doctors, we determined we would like to fundraise for the Paediatric wards and Paeds A&E department. Every last penny we raise will go to this fabulous charity.
Thank you for taking the time to read about our endeavour, and for any contribution, big or small.
Wish us luck!!
Jenna and Georgia
