Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I'll be running my first Half Marathon at Croft Circuit on 30 November. Never run further than 10k before. This is either a really good, or a really stupid, idea. Please help me to make it a good idea by donating to the very worthy cause and help Harrogate Homeless Project to keep doing their excellent work.
UPDATE: 31 August 25 - Up to 9 miles for my long runs, and my legs haven't fallen off yet. The training plan ramps up from this week with four runs a week, strength training with weights, mobility training, swimming and I've now added cycling. Joined a gym even though I have rarely darkened the doorstep of the gym in the past. All to ensure I can run that half marathon in a decent time and raise loads of money to help people who are homeless in Harrogate.
UPDATE: 22 October 25 - Up to 10 miles for the weekly long run and a total of 30 miles a week. The long runs go up to 11 miles next week. 5 weeks, 3 days to go until the half marathon. Eeek.
UPDATE: 2 November 2025 - First 11 mile run which went surprisingly well, apart from mis-calculating the distance slightly so I ran more than 11 miles. I managed to run in an area where there was an organised run going on, and was overtaken at some speed by Scooby Doo who was raising funds for MNDA. I was very motivated to push through because you've all been so generous in sponsoring me. It really helps when my legs think they don't want to go any further to think of all the money that will be raised for HHP and all the people who have no choice but to stay on their feet because they need to keep moving just to stay warm.
UPDATE: 16 November 25 - Ran almost 12 miles today for my long run. I ran with a friend and chatting made the miles feel as though they went by reasonably quickly. With just under 2 weeks to go, I'm hoping that I'll meet my fundraising target for this really worthwhile charity.
