Story
Laura Gerada and Jen Buck have joined forces together to contribute and fundraise some money helping to keep The Lenton Centre "afloat". In recent months The Lenton Centre has been in financial trouble at a risk of closure due to rising utility bills. The knock on effect led to a large funding shortfall which threatened it`s future. An investor has now come forward which has secured its immediate future along with donations from members of the public and its lottery grant. There is ongoing fundraising to keep the pool afloat for the future so Laura and myself have decided to do a sponsored swim and are giving something back. Their monthly costs are £10,000 per month so we are going to swim 10,000 metres in four weeks as a relay to try and help.
All our children have attended or are currently having swimming lessons with the centre`s swim school "Quackers" and we would be devastated if we lost the pool. Laura has twin girls Katherine and Isabelle and its their local community pool situated next to the girl`s primary school. The girls have progressed fantastically due to great teaching and patience and understanding of the staff. My son Harry has mild Cerebral Palsy and it has been a saviour for Harry as its has taken years and years for him to learn to swim and reach the standard he has . I believe if he had swam and had lessons anywhere else he wouldn`t have met this milestone. Its essential for Harry to exercise due to his muscles. The staff have an understanding of his disability and I think other pools don`t serve this so well. The Lenton Centre also has a gym which Laura uses while the girls are having their lessons which also serves the local community along with their other activities and events . Its incredibly important to lots of people within the community.
