Story
I am walking 80 miles over the month of Augist to raise money for Peeps. Peeps have supported us from very early on in Charlotte's life in the form of peer support, counselling, coffee pot funds, equipment fund and answering frantic emails when we were low. We count them among friends, not just a charity. We've met friends through them, I volunteer for them. They mean so much to us. Any bit of money, shares, chats about them helps. They're not as well known in Northern Ireland and I am going to help change that. Every HIE family here needs support from birth through life and sometimes, in bereavement.
Peeps are the only UK charity dedicated to supporting families touched by HIE.
HIE stands for Hypoxic-Ischaemic Encephalopathy and is a lack of oxygen and blood flow to the brain, most often happening around child birth.
We provide counselling, wellbeing and mental health support, bereavement support, funding for essential equipment, information and signposting, peer support, online wellbeing and information sessions.
