Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I'll try to keep this brief but we all know I can waffle for Britain!! We all know someone who is affected by Cancer. The stats show 1 in 2 of us WILL be affected in our lifetime!
Losing my Dad only a few years back to Cancer was close enough to home.
My Mum beat Cancer 40 odd years ago when I was tiny, and is still as strong as ever even approaching 80 and she cared for my Dad for a long time throughout his treatment
My partner fought and beat his own Cancer before I even met him..... and that's just a few close to me, many of my friends are or have fought, or have someone close that is affected.
I never expected to get Cancer myself... but I have now been diagnosed with Hodgkins Lymphoma, a rare but treatable blood cancer. I will be starting chemotherapy in the next week or so and I am quietly hopeful... no confident... that I will beat this. Albeit the road may be long, I will kick it with all my strength!
I want to give what I can to Cancer Research UK now, to do my bit in the fight against Cancer, in the hopes that one day ALL Cancer will be treatable.
I will be holding a fundraising event with my band (Jen Behaving Badly) on Friday 3rd October at The Royal Swan in Blackwater, where I hope friends, fans and family will come along for a good old shindig to help me raise a modest amount towards Cancer Research UK
My band will play, and I hope some of our musician friends will join us on stage for a good Ole musical knees up and jam with us, as this will probably be my last weekend of performing before my treatment begins! Singing has been my therapy for a long time and I don't know when I will be back behind a microphone given my immune system will be extremely low to non-existant. Please feel free to join us on the night.
I will be keeping the page open until I finish my treatment and hopefully ring that bell! Please help me smash my target.
Thank you
