Story
🌍 Today (04.02.2024) is World Cancer Day, a day where cancer charities worldwide unite to shine a spotlight on the disparities in healthcare access and resources.
One charity that is striving to bridge the care gap and pave the way for a more inclusive future is Cancer Card who provide comfort boxes, digital inclusion support services and assistance to individuals of all ages, ethnicities, and socioeconomic backgrounds. As a national charity, Cancer Card's main aim is to assist the NHS by supporting everyone who is affected by cancer, enabling them to directly access relevant information, services and support, all in one place.
They offer an online support hub which is a one stop shop for personalised support and information sharing for cancer patients, partners, families, friends, professionals and employers as they navigate the world of cancer.
I first heard about Cancer Card in 2022, where I met the founder Jen Hardy and heard her story of living with stage 4 incurable breast cancer. Whilst searching for more cancer support, Jen noticed there was no single place to go that listed the hundreds of different services, support providers, information channels and free treats. It was this realisation that prompted Jen to start Cancer Card creating a single place for anyone affected by cancer to find access to the support they need.
🖐🏼 I'm excited to announce that I have the opportunity to run the Edinburgh Marathon this year to raise funds for Cancer Card, and I would like to ask for your support in helping me reach my fundraising goal of £500. Every donation will make a real difference in the lives of those experiencing cancer.
How You Can Help:
