Story
Thank you for visiting our page.
Bramwell Tovey was an internationally renowned conductor and our close friend. He was music director of the Vancouver and Winnipeg Symphony Orchestras and most recently was the Principal Conductor of the BBC Concert Orchestra here in the UK. Bram was a founder member of the Redbridge Youth Orchestra in which he was the tuba player and a musical icon in the cultural life of the borough. Very sadly Bramwell passed away in July 2022 from a sarcoma, a rare form of cancer.
There will be a special gala performance at 4 pm on Sunday April 6th 2025 in Ilford featuring many wonderful works closely associated with Bramwell and his career. These will include the sparkling overture to Ruslan and Ludmila, Elgar's celebrated Enigma variations and the sublime Adagio from Bruckner's Seventh Symphony. This concert at Ilford County High School for Boys will be a fitting musical tribute to Bram's memory.
We are supporting Sarcoma UK, a national charity that funds vital research, offers support for anyone affected by sarcoma cancer and campaigns for better treatments. Sarcoma is a type of cancer that develops in the bone and soft tissue. It is difficult to diagnose and one of the hardest to treat. By supporting us, we can help change this. Your donation will help researchers find answers, keep our Support Line open, and raise awareness to improve treatment and standards of care.
Thank you for your support.
