Story
Doddie Aid is a personal exercise challenge that takes place from 1 January and runs for 5 weeks, all whilst raising funds for My Name’5 Doddie Foundation to help find a cure for motor neuron disease (MND).
Ten magnificent souls have decided to join me in Doddie Aid this year. They all have busy lives and responsibilities but have agreed to commit to being active for the whole of January. This is beyond the call of family duty/friendship & I’d like to say a big personal thanks.
Others have said they would like to help too, which is extremely kind & thoughtful, so I have created this justgiving page.
Last year I was able to ask, that if the temperature of the outdoor Lido that I swam in made you wince, then could you please donate a £.
Unfortunately, this year the cold has really exacerbated my MND symptoms & is not my friend. It is crippling my hands, making them spasm & ridiculously weak. I would not be able to dress myself after a cold swim and wouldn’t want to inflict that on others at the Lido! 😳
Motivation this year, for those wishing to donate may just have to be, that like me people with MND are getting worse everyday. Others at a much quicker speed than myself. This is my 4th year of participating in Doddie Aid. 50% of people with MND would be lucky to take part in two rounds.
There is still NO EFFECTIVE TREATMENT available for 98% of patients. We get the diagnosis and all we have to fight it with is grit & resilience. Doddie Aid donates EVERY PENNY to research to try and change this. Please give them your support.
Thank you for reading and an even bigger thanks for your donation 😊
