Story
I sadly lost my youngest brother Akeel Uddin on Thursday 4th of September 2025. Having been informed by the doctors that he likely had only a few hours left and at most a few days, he still demonstrated the courage and compassion he was always known for. Despite only being 24 and the youngest in the family, he spent the last few hours he had comforting his parents and siblings, cracking jokes and offering out hugs.
A few hours before Akeel passed, my mother asked if there was anything he would like us to do on his behalf. He asked if we could do something to support a heart related organisation. My brother was born with a congenital heart defect and has endured countless open heart surgeries, had a pacemaker fitted and even a heart transplant. During his hospital visits we often used to marvel at the medications, surgeries and technology that had supported him during his more challenging years and helped keep him alive.
To honour my brother's last wish, I am raising money for the British Heart Foundation and I'd be so grateful for your support. The BHF has helped halve the number of people dying from heart and circulatory disease in the UK but sadly every day hundreds of people lose their lives. It's only thanks to support from people like us that the BHF can create new treatments and discover new cures. £24 could pay for two hours of research by an early career scientist, but every pound helps so I would be grateful if you could please give what you can to help me hit my target. I also kindly ask that you keep my beloved baby brother in your prayers. Thank you so much!
